Child Safety Standards

Gerany is a neighborhood platform for adults. We do not allow child sexual abuse or exploitation of any kind, anywhere on the service, and we act on every report. This page says who may use Gerany, what is prohibited, how to report a concern, what happens next, and how to reach the person responsible.

1. Gerany is for adults

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Every new account confirms its date of birth during setup, and an account that turns out to belong to a minor is closed. The service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has an account or has given us personal data, write to [email protected] and we will remove the account and the data.

2. What is prohibited

The following are banned outright and lead to immediate removal of the content and permanent closure of the account, whether the material is posted publicly, sent in a message, attached to a listing or an experience, or used as a profile photo:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, computer-generated or AI-generated imagery that depicts a minor sexually.
  • Sexualizing a minor in any way: sexual comments about a minor, sexual role-play involving a minor, or inappropriate depictions of minors.
  • Grooming: contacting or befriending a minor in order to sexualize, abuse or exploit them, including requests for images or to move the conversation off Gerany.
  • Sextortion: threatening or blackmailing anyone with intimate images, real or claimed.
  • Arranging, advertising, facilitating or encouraging the sexual abuse or trafficking of a minor, including through listings, experiences or services.
  • Sharing links to, or instructions for finding, any of the above.

3. How to report

Every post, comment, message thread, profile, listing, experience and service on Gerany can be reported from its own menu, in the app and on the website, without leaving the screen you are on. Choose a reason, add a note if you want, and send. You can also block the person so they can no longer contact you or see your content. Reports are confidential; the person reported is not told who reported them.

You do not need an account to report a concern. Email [email protected] with a link to the content or the username involved. Reports about children are handled first.

4. What happens to a report

  • Every report goes to a moderation queue that a person at Gerany reviews. Content reported by three different neighbors is hidden automatically while it waits for review.
  • Content that violates these standards is removed and the account is permanently closed. We do not restore accounts closed for child safety.
  • Apparent CSAM is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States and, where the law requires it, to the competent national authority. We preserve the material and the account records for that purpose in the way the law requires, and otherwise we do not keep it.
  • We respond to lawful requests from law enforcement about child safety, and we cooperate with investigations.

5. How the platform limits risk

  • Posting, messaging and calling require a verified phone or email plus a profile photo, and starting a direct conversation or call requires a verified profile picture, so an abuser cannot operate through disposable anonymous accounts.
  • You can turn off direct messages and calls from anyone in Settings, and you can block any person. A blocked person cannot see you, message you or call you.
  • Content is tied to the poster's verified account and to a location, and moderators see the full account record when reviewing a report.
  • Organizers who connect their own systems through the Integration API are bound by the same standards, and their access is revoked with their account.

6. Point of contact

Gerany's designated child safety contact is reachable at [email protected]. This person can speak to our prevention practices, our handling of reports, and our compliance with child safety laws, and answers regulators and law enforcement. Privacy requests go to [email protected].

These standards apply to every Gerany surface: the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Android apps, the website, and the Integration API. They are part of the User Agreement, which every account accepts.
